Sprinkle acquires Saplo and changes name
Nordic recommendations company Sprinkle acquires award-winning text analysis platform Saplo and invests heavily in artificial intelligence for media. The acquisition is made with a combination of cash and shares. The group will also change its name to Strossle. As Sprinkle expands internationally the goal is to challenge content discovery companies like Outbrain with a more publisher-friendly offering.
Since its launch in Stockholm in 2013 Sprinkle has become one of the fastest growing media technology companies in Northern Europe. The company provides advanced solutions for content presentation and distribution for media sites. The aim is to increase publishers’ traffic and give advertisers an optimal distribution channel for Native Advertising. So far the technology has been implemented by more than 500 publishers in Europe.

Saplo started in 2008 as a platform for automated text analysis for publishers. Their technology has always been at the forefront with a special emphasis on machine learning. Over the years Saplo received numerous awards and accolades, such as finalist in Seedcamp in London, and has been listed by the Swedish Institute as one of Sweden’s twenty most innovative companies.

Strossle started their international expansion in 2014 and has established offices in Stockholm, Malmö, Oslo, Copenhagen, Amsterdam and Madrid. To clearly differentiate itself from other companies they’ve also decided to change the name of the joint company from the Sprinkle the Strossle. The name change will be implemented formally in September when also a completely new visual identity will be presented.
